According to Paul Zak, in his recent article titled
The Neuroscience of Trust, there are 8 ways management can foster and build trust within an organization or team. Obviously, there is a link between productivity and trust within an organization. Otherwise, why consider and study this at all right?
Fun Facts: Compared with people at low-trust companies, people at high-trust companies report:
74% less stress
106% more energy at work
50% higher productivity
13% fewer sick days
76% more engagement
29% more satisfaction with their lives
40% less burnout

Zak outlines the 8 behaviors that promote and foster trust as follows:
Recognize excellence
Induce “challenge stress”
Give people discretion in how they do their work
Enable job crafting
Share information broadly
Intentionally build relationships
Facilitate whole-person growth
Show vulnerability
One of my favorite books on trust is titled The 5 Dysfunctions of Team. In this book the model outlined has listed as dysfunction #1… guess what?
Dysfunction #1: Absence of Trust. The fear of being vulnerable with team members prevents the building of trust within the team.
So, how then do we apply this to dealing with and earning the trust of our clients? We ensure that the other 4 dysfunctions are always in check:
Dysfunction #2: Fear of Conflict
Dysfunction #3: Lack of Commitment
Dysfunction #4: Avoidance of Accountability
Dysfunction #5: Inattention to Results
