WordPress 2.8.5 Released

WordPress Icon LargeA new version of WordPress has been released. This release fixes a few minor security and bug issues and will more than likely be one of the final iterations of the 2.8.5 branch as WordPress 2.9 is in the works.

Most of these issues were discovered during the development of WordPress 2.9, and the WordPress team wanted to make sure the 2.8.X branch was up to date before the release of 2.9

Some key fixes include:

  • A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
  • Removal of areas within the code where php code in variables was evaluated.
  • Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including Admins.
  • Retiring of the two importers of Tag data from old plugins.

  2. Very good point. The first thing you should always do with any WordPress upgrade is backup your database and file structure in case anything goes wrong.

  3. I have a problem updating the pluguing and activate I get the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in / home / akinotic / public_html / wp-content / plugins / dynamic-headers / custom-header.php on line 128
and not to do to resolve it if they can help you.
