With WordPress gaining in popularity at an exponential rate there are more and more sites out there running on WordPress. Some are running on pre-made themes, some are running on custom designs.
Regardless of how your WordPress Site’s design will be implemented the following 10 WordPress Design Tips will help you organize your content, get more return users, and have a better WordPress experience.
We’ve talked about this before: if you want a website go with Wordpress and if you want professionals to customize your Wordpress go with the guys at Nicasio Design. But, sometimes you need a list—reasons why Wordpress is truly the best for your business. Here it is. The top seven reasons why Wordpress is a perfect fit for your e-commerce business model.
“Creative thinking and the determination to push the limits on innovation are the hallmark characteristics of entrepreneurs. Having a strong presence on the Web gives business owners a great launch pad to showcase their innovative spirit and build brand awareness for the products and services they offer.” source.
The question is – what does a strong presence on the web look like? And once you have it, how do you maintain it?
We just completed the launch of our latest project: an e-commerce website for Strong Learning, Inc.
Strong Learning had several needs going into this project. They needed a custom design, they needed a CMS that would allow them to quickly and easily manage their content, and they needed e-commerce integration into their existing 1 Shopping Cart account for both purchases and newsletter signups.
Through the use of WordPress, custom post types, custom taxonomies, and a custom navigation, all of these needs were met.

This is a fairly unique website that we had the pleasure of building out. eTrain Today already had a logo and a basic idea of where they wanted to go with design, but needed help getting their new business venture up and running.
eTrain provides online training and testing for people that work with hazardous materials and other jobs that require various certifications. This site had to be part e-commerce, part membership management, and part distance learning.
We ended up building the site on WordPress. Through the use of a custom theme, the Shopp plugin, a custom, AJAX powered e-learning plugin (written by Nicasio) and integration with Articulate’s Presenter software we delivered a solution that is functional, intuitive, and easy to use (for both the site admin and test takers).

We are proud to announce the launch of our latest custom WordPress Design and Development project.
R&J Public Relations required a robust content management system that allowed them to manage, edit and display several different types of data in innovative ways.
As there are several site editors, a simple and intuitive backend interface was required.
The solution we chose was a custom site using WordPress, built on a child theme of the TwentyTen theme. To accommodate the different data types being used on the site we used several different custom post types, each with its own custom taxonomies and custom meta boxes. This created a very intuitive and user friendly interface in the admin area of the site. Mix in some clean AJAX UI effects on the front end of the site (powered by jQuery) and you have R&J’s new, sleek site.

There is nothing more frustrating to an organization then not being able to edit its website content when it needs to. The days of relying on the web guy to do this are pretty much over. Or, are they? In this article I want to address the concern I have regarding the growing number of organizations who are beginning to realize that there has got to be a easier and cost effectively way to manage and control their online content.
First, let’s define the terms: CMS stands for content management system. A CMS is defined as “the collection of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment.” (Source Wikipedia.)

While most of our projects are larger, custom design and development projects, sometimes a client just needs some simple theme customizations to meet their goals.
This was the case with a site we recently built for the Gary LeBeau for Connecticut State Senate campaign.
The site features a simple WordPress theme that we simply rebranded for the campaign. The result was a quick turn around for a fairly custom site. Screenshot after the break.

We launched the website for Savannah Biz Ads today. This was a pretty cool project.
Savannah Biz Ads has an innovative approach that’s going to allow local businesses to advertise in both at physical locations and online through their company.
This online/offline synergy is a significant bang for your buck in the world of advertising.
We also did some pretty cool things with the site, details after the break.
It’s no secret that we are very fond of the WordPress platform here at Nicasio. We use WordPress on most of our web projects (unless of course another platform is a better fit for that particular project). Between the open source software from WordPress.org which allows anyone with minimal web knowledge to setup their own highly customizable blog/CMS and WordPress.com which allows anyone that signs up to create a new blog in minutes I have to ask – Is WordPress killing Web Design?
Nicasio Design is proud to announce the launch of one of our latest WordPress sites for Dr. Barbara Goschi.
Dr. Goschi needed a highly customized content management system and e-commerce site launched where she could sell her products, sell her advice, communicate with her patients/readers, and outline her services.
The solution we chose to build out her custom design is WordPress and the Shopp Plugin.

American Ion has an exciting new product that can keep the air in your home, office, etc clean of bad smells, allergens, and some viruses. They have a great product and needed a website that could get them off the ground quickly and also scale as their new venture grew.
