Nicasio, LLC is all about usability. Take their website for example: you can calculate the rough cost on your website design right there, without having to wait for a ping back from the web designer! That’s a service.
Coupled with the great usability is great design. Without even browsing their portfolio, you know Nicasio knows what they’re doing.

I took the family on vacation to the Dominican Republic this year; a working vacation that is. Lessons learned:
1 – Trust your home-based team to be able to cover for you.
2 – Plan for travel delays.
3 – Don’t assume your cell phone will work outside the US.
4 – It is OK to walk away from BlackBerry for half a day.
5 – Never travel without a flash drive.
6 – Convert cash to travel country currency before you leave US.
7 – Many 3rd world countries DO NOT have free hot spots.
8 – Arrange to have grass cut.
9 – Never stop asking wife to travel light.
10 – Gauge yourself – before and after vacation and learn to stay refreshed long after your return.

What is speed networking? I am glad you asked. Well, for the most part it is much like speed dating; not that I have partaken in speed dating, but from what I have seen ;0 )
Here is a brief article about a speed networking event that took place here in Savannah a few days ago. It was pretty intense. I walked away with about 4 viable leads. And I must admit – it was fun trying to communicate what Nicasio does in 45 seconds.

I was recently interviewed for a tech magazine article. Well, the day arrived when the article was publish – and as I sat back and read it I could not believe how often the writer mis-quoted me.

Lesson learned:
Next time someone writes an article, I will insist that I’d be allowed to proof read it for accuracy~

We are proud to announce the launch of our second A La Carte online order restaurant; Polk’s Fresh Market.
The Challenge:
Polk’s needed a way to feature its daily menu to its customers – outside of faxing it to them.
Solution:
A La Carte online order system! We have facilitated the creation of Polk’s Daily Menu online giving Polk’s customers access to the daily menu, place orders, and optin for future specials via email marketing efforts. So, no more paper faxes! Nicasio Design saving the planet one tree at a time!

We have launched a local Savannah Based non-profit orginization.
Problem: The orginization was not happy with their old design, and needed a way to highlight their main activities.
Solution: Word Press was used to handle the required CMS needs while at the same time we presented them with a new design concept which highlighted their events. The customer is well pleased with this solution.

Well after many long hours of design, development & programming Nicasio & Paragon have launched the new Savannah Magazine web site.
Many thanks to the folks over at Savannah Magazine for their patience, and perseverance. We know this can be a long hard road for both customer and design firm, but they were as wonderful and gracious as their magazine is unique. See y’all at the launch party!
Also, many thanks to the team at Gauge Interactive for providing the back-bone/ hosting infrastructure to power this baby.

Well I learned my lesson about really using and taking full advantage of my Sugar CRM.
Here’s how I got to where I was recently:
My good friend Dan Augustine from Guage Interactive has always told me to utilize the Sugar CRM to its full potential by simply keeping it up to date, and I made every effort to do this for about 2 weeks.
This past Friday – I noticed I had stopped updating my CRM and decided to take a step back and resume my use of this great CRM tool.

Perhaps I am behind the times, but I just learned about Google’s Google Talk feature that allows Free PC-to-PC voice calls. Basically, anyone can talk to anyone else for free as long as they are [both] online and have the Google Talk client installed/active.
So, if I am not mistaken, what I am seeing here is the proliferation of Google Comm. I guess the only issue I would have with this is the unsightly head set we have to use to speak over the IP.

Linkedin.com launches mobile site. The question is whether the iPhone will make mobile browsers / sites obsolete?
For now, I think – it’s a good move for Linkedin.com as they have over 19 million young professional users with cell phone usage. Why not allow for easier browsing with a mobile site?

I tried it and immediately noticed that I could not contact my contact. So, for now – it’s there but it needs work I guess.

I am sooooooo excited. We have been honored in bringing on board our second à la carte customer; Polk’s Fresh Market! Yeah. It is amazing how our new technology has come to the rescue of local eateries struggling to improve service while at the same time empowering office workers everywhere.
