Do you ever have a great idea for a blog post when you’re absolutely nowhere near a computer?
Feel the need to write a blog post about that great ribeye you had…while you’re eating it. If these situations describe you and your blog is running WordPress 2.1 or higher you should install the WPhone plugin. This plugin will automatically optimize your WordPress admin area to work on your mobile device. The coolest part is that it detects the abilities of your mobile device and will automatically show the best formatted version. Just download the plugin from the WordPress plugin repository, install it, and then visit your WordPress admin page with your mobile browser.

Have you ever seen a color that you really like and wanted to use somewhere else, but you just couldn’t figure out what it was? If you constantly find yourself with this problem, head over to http://www.iconico.com/colorpic/ and grab a copy of ColorPic. I needed to grab some colors off of a static image today and found this little program and it works great. Best of all, the price is right – totally free, although you may want to give the developer a small donation.
Nicasio Design is proud to announce the launch of our latest E-Commerce website using NicE-Comm – Action Awards.
Nothing make us happier at Nicasio than launching a new website. This is a custom WordPress site that we are particularly proud of. The Small Business Assistance Corporation came to use with a website that had a ton of great content, and a convenient online loan application process. They needed a website redesign and wanted to reorganize their immense amount of content in a more user friendly way. They also needed a robust content management system to easily manage their large amount of data. The solution? WordPress of course.

This is the second article in a 3 part series addressing the use of WordPress as a content management system (or CMS for short).
Article 1 can be found here.
While many people are aware of the power and versatility of WordPress as a blogging platform, few are aware that WordPress also possesses extremely robust content management features.

Over the last decade E-Commerce has exploded onto the business landscape and made it know that it is a business model that is here to stay. Whether you are starting a new venture as an e-commerce site or want to expand your current business by adding an e-commerce component, it is inevitable that you will need the assistance of an e-commerce expert. But just what makes someone an e-commerce expert?

When most people think of WordPress they think of blogging, and rightfully so. WordPress is by far the most robust and supported blogging solution available. However, if you believe WordPress is strictly a blogging platform you are strongly mistaken.
With the right design, plugins, and knowledge you can turn WordPress into a very powerful content management system, capable of handling even the largest sites. We will look at 3 sites that use WordPress as a content management system and address why this works over the next 3 days. So make sure to bookmark us, subscribe to our RSS feed, or add us on Facebook to follow this series.

At some point or another I’m sure we have all taken a writing class of some kind. You probably learned how to write an essay or short stories. While incredibly useful (it’s very important to be able to write and communicate in any profession), these writing styles do little to prepare you for e-commerce copywriting. With the ease and lower cost of starting a business online, many entrepreneurs are turning to the Internet for their new business ventures. This is causing a rise in the number of e-commerce sites. While looking at these sites you may notice one of the most blatantly absent parts of these sites is good copy.
There are a few plugins here at Nicasio Design that we find ourselves using over and over again on multiple projects, and with everyone from individuals to large corporations wanting to add photo galleries to their sites it seems inevitable that one of these plugins would be NextGEN Gallery.
NextGEN does perfectly what so many other photo gallery plugins try to do but always fall short. It delivers a very robust system for the management, categorization and display of your photos. Whether you have 5 photos from your last family picnic or you need to manage the portfolios of a dozen photographers, NextGEN has you covered.
