Recession E-CommerceFirst off, it’s Christmas Eve here in the States, so Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it and Happy Holidays to those that are celebrating other holidays. WordPress Security Fix on 2.6.3

WordPress Icon LargeWordPress has announced a major security flaw with WordPress versions 2.6.3 and lower. The exploit has to do with a flaw in the WordPress RSS feed file. The exploit could allow a knowledgeable person with malicious intent to take control of your website. The upgrade to 2.6.5 is an easy one and you can actually just replace the feed.php and version.php files if you only want to fix this security issue.

If you are one of our customers, your site was updated on the day the fix was released.

Outsourcing Information TechnologyThere is a lot of talk about the economy here in the United States and its current state (or lack thereof). During trying economic times there may be a temptation to begin outsourcing some of your internal operations. This can be a great way to cut overhead at almost any business. However, if you are thinking of outsourcing work to overseas contractors, now may not be the time to do it.

Credit Card Logos E-CommerceWhen starting an e-commerce website it is inevitable that one of the issues will be what payment processor to use. This isn’t always an easy question to answer. You need to ask yourself several questions to properly evaluate your needs in order to align yourself with a payment processor that will help you accomplish your business goals.

WordPress Icon LargeThroughout the course of developing WordPress sites on a daily basis I have needed to learn the proper way to develop a custom plugin. When I went about learning this process I learned The WordPress Codex does a good job at giving you the information you need to make a plugin, but it is lacking in some additional information. There have been a couple of good articles previously written about creating WordPress plugins. Below you will find the links to these articles, links to some useful areas of the WordPress Codex, and some of my own insights on WordPress plugin development.

E-Commerce ImageMore and more people are becoming interested in E-Commerce in this day and age. An E-Commerce website certainly has its advantages over a brick and mortar store (see our E-Commerce category archives for more information about the benefits of E-Commerce). With all of this interest it is inevitable that terms will get thrown around and be misunderstood. I would like to clarify two E-Commerce terms that are often interchangeable, but can also have very different meanings.

WordPress Site Launch – Pelham Children’s Theater

pelham.jpg

There are a few things in life that are as rewarding as launching a brand new web site. Things like -

  • Ice cold water on a hot muggy day.
  • A cold beer during a baseball game.
  • College graduation.
  • And, getting that girl’s telephone number.

We are oh so proud to announce the launch of the new Pelham Children’s Theater WordPress site today. Pete Rocco has been a gentleman through this process – communicating requirements back and forth between the orginization’s board and the Nicasio design team, and yet keeping his cool all along. I tell you we cannot complain when a customer comes to us with a clear vision of where he wants to be. Great job Pete!

Using E-Commerce to Go GreenIn this day and age ‘going green’ is first and foremost on everyone’s mind. As a business owner you may feel that you have an obligation to both the environment and your customers to make sure you are doing everything in your power to protect the environment and ‘go green’ (or maybe you just want some extra publicity and tax breaks…more on that in a minute).
